when i was having the same problem i installed the patch and it worked fine for me

It worked for U, because U dont use Steam.  Steam updates itself, it does not need to be patched.

In console write:
"players" or "status"

Find nickname and you see his Steam_ID, Valve_ID or Steam_ID_Lan.
Then go to stats page and search this ID (if he have Steam_ID_Lan, you not need search, because he dont have any ID).
In results you have all matched ID
